Al Sullivan has worked in weekly newspapers since 1987. Over this span, he has won hundreds of journalism awards, including Journalist of the Year for New Jersey Press Association as well as top honors from the New Jersey chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists as well as the Garden State Journalists Association. A collection of his work called “Everyday People: Profiles from the Garden State” has been published by Rutgers University Press. Along with awards for editorial, he has received honors for his photojournalism as well.
A resident of Hudson County for 35 years, Sullivan grew up in Paterson, New Jersey. He has worked for numerous weekly publications including Wayne Today, Worrall Newspapers, and the Hudson Reporter. He has published stories in numerous small literary publications since the 1970s
